Used commercial espresso machine- what to look for?

I found a used commercial espresso machine in some hillbilly mountain town for an absolute steal. It needs one part replaced and a good cleaning. I know how to work these kinds of machines, but i don't know what to look for. I know I'm either going to have a great deal or a big hunk of metal sitting on my counter that I can't get to work. What do i need to know before i buy this baby?

Espresso machines are really inexpensive nowadays. I would hate for you to buy someone else's headache. I think I bought mine a few years ago for $100 and saw the SAME one at Walmart for like $20, I about croaked! LOL. Anyways, I honestly would just buy one new. They have come down considerably in price. If you still think you may want to buy it, make sure you price the replacement part (and the shipping), you may be unpleasantly surprised. Overall, just make sure it has its basic unit, and it does not smell "burnt" electrical wise, its carafe, and its espresso basket and screen. I would also make sure the cord is not frayed. Good luck!

Is anyone familiar with LA PAVONI espresso machine?

If you have doubts dont buy it.

You get what you pay for 99.9% of the time.

If you can afford it buy saeco. I have 2 saeco magic de luxe's and i just bought a saeco incanto sirius.

Its a totally different experience and you will never need starbucks thats for sure.
